| Did the FBI Love Lucy?
LUCYlibrary has obtained a fan letter written to Lucy by Hoover himself. "I know that you are no doubt burdened by a great deal of fan mail," he wrote to Lucy after viewing "The Great Train Robbery" episode of I Love Lucy, "but I did want to add at least one more letter." "Last Monday evening I had occasion to view your program," Hoover continued, "as I generally do on Monday evenings, and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed the program. You and Desi and the rest of the cast were really terrific." Why was Hoover so taken with this particular episode? That mystery doesn't take the Bureau's detectives to solve. "I got quite a kick out of your reference to the FBI and myself," Hoover's letter explained, "and I don't believe that I ever laughed as much at any TV program as I did at yours on Monday evening."
