| | | | |  | | | I Love Lucy writers Bob Schiller (left) and Bob Weiskopf (right) with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. | | | | Bob Schiller and Bob Weiskopf, who joined the I Love Lucy writing staff in 1955 (their first "Lucy" script was the classic "Lucy Visits Grauman's"), had a long career writing for many of Hollywood's greatest comedy talents on radio and television. Before teaming up with Weiskopf, Bob Schiller penned radio scripts for such classic shows as Duffy's Tavern, Abbott and Costello, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, The Mel Blanc Show, Sweeney and March, The Jimmy Durante Show, and December Bride, and then for TV stars such as Danny Thomas Ed Wynn, Garry Moore, and Red Buttons. Bob Weiskopf wrote radio comedy on The Bob Hope Show, The Eddie Cantor Show, The Rudy Vallee Show (as part of a writing staff which included his then-roommate, Jess Oppenheimer), The Fred Allen Show, and The Chesterfield Supper Club. Then the two pooled their talents, writing a single radio script for Our Miss Brooks, and plunging into television together,writing for Make Room for Daddy, The Bob Cummings Show, That's My Boy, Frofessional Father, It's Always Jan, I Love Lucy, My Favorite Husband, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, The Ann Sothern Show (also creators), Guestward Ho!, Pete and Gladys, The Lucy Show, The Red Skelton Show, The Good Guys (also producers), The Phyllis Diller Show, The Carol Burnett Show, The Flip Wilson Show, Maude (also producers), All's Fair (also creator-producers), All in the Family, Archie Bunker's Place, Living in Paradise, and The Boys. During their long collaboration, Bob Schiller and Bob Weiskopf have been honored with two Emmy Awards, a pair of Peabody Awards, a Golden Globe, and the Writers Guild of America's Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Achievement.
