| LUCYlibrary Profile: Dave Woodman Cartoonist, Illustrator (and Lucy Fan) | ||||||||||||
|
A talented professional cartoonist, Dave has been drawing Lucy since the 1970s. In fact, Lucille Ball herself was so taken with Dave's drawings of her "Lucy Ricardo" character that she purchased one to hang in her Beverly Hills home. Dave has designed the official logo for each of the three annual "Loving Lucy" conventions held since 1996, as well as the Official 50th Anniversary Lucy Reunion Poster authorized by the Lucille Ball Estate to raise funds for pediatric AIDS research. But Dave's art is by no means "exclusively Lucy." His work has been featured in the production of such Academy Award-wining films as The Little Mermaid ("Ursula, the Sea Witch"), Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin, as well as Steven Spielberg's An American Tail and Turner Feature Animation's The Pagemaster and Cats Don't Dance. Other credits include the He-Man TV series and such classic music videos as Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract" and the Rolling Stones' "Harlem Shuffle." Dave's illustrations have graced the covers of The Hooterville Handbook, Russell Johnson's Here on Gilligan's Isle, and the coffee table collection, This Face You Got. His work in other media includes the sculptures for the popular bendable figures of The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening. Dave is represented | ||||||||||||
